Below you will find answers to commonly asked questions & policies. As we provide various services, some of the FAQ may not be relevant for the specific topic you are interested in. If you do not find the answers you seek, please contact us here.
So…will you facilitate an MDMA or psilocybin session for me?
This is our most common question, especially since Michael Pollan’s book “How To Change Your Mind” came out. We’re very sorry and wish we could. Finally Detached will be one of the very first organizations in the country to offer these medicines when it is legal to do so. But there’s no test, no inner circle, no secret groups to join. Everything we offer is listed on our website.
We’re also sometimes asked, “What if I provided the medicine?” Sorry, still no. “ Do you know someone who could?” Sorry, no.
Currently, because of the laws, we only work with Psychedelic Cannabis. While psilocybin has been decriminalized in in a few states, it is not yet legal and as such we cannot legally offer this medicine in a therapeutic container. But we do hope this changes soon!
MDMA will only be available by prescription several years from now. We’ve found we can successfully address the reasons people are interested in MDMA and Psilocybin with Psychedelic Cannabis, as this medicine is extremely similar to the effects of MDMA and Psilocybin. We are happy to discuss how these treatment modalities work. We can also help our clients assess potential guides as well as provide educational information on micro dosing.
We really love working with cannabis and we’d love to show you that it can be used in the same way as these
other medicines can.
But seriously, cannabis can’t do what you are claiming…right?
This is our second most common question. The answer is pretty simple, we stumbled upon one of the biggest secrets in the psychedelic community, one that very few people know about. Maybe we just collectively forgot how to use cannabis skillfully.
Cannabis is a classic psychedelic.
Most people associate Psychedelic Cannabis trips with eating too many edibles and getting sick, having panic attacks, and tripping really, really hard. Afterwards they rightly think, why in the world would I do that again? But this common experience proves, even if it was a “bad trip,” that it was a “trip” nonetheless. If you’re new to the psychedelic paradigm, it really makes some sense to test the waters a bit before flying to Peru for your first ever Ayahuasca experience. If you’re an experienced psychonaut, come try something new. If you’re concerned it won’t be strong enough, we’ll offer you a second pipe… and a third. Let’s see how far we can take it. Cannabis is one of the safest substances on the planet.
A few things we can say are that, most skeptics come out of the experience completely surprised by the intensity of the trip, sometimes even veteran psychonauts say it was the most intense psychedelic trip they have ever had. Ayahuasca practitioners and DMT folks regularly say it was just like Ayahuasca and DMT. From our experience, we can say that it starts like an MDMA experience, then it morphs into a psilocybin experience. A very significant number also state that they experience Ayahuasca-level and DMT-level trips, especially if we add certain breathwork practices. We are becoming more and more convinced that cannabis used skillfully may be as effective as MDMA in treating PTSD. We have had Psychedelic Cannabis experiences that were indistinguishable from MDMA, Psilocybin, LSD, Peyote, Ayahuasca, N,N-DMT, and even 5-meo-DMT. Cannabis is a shapeshifter medicine as much as anything else. The primary difference is that journeyers keep their agency, meaning they can navigate the experience more skillfully, and with greater ease, and they can pause the experience if it gets overwhelming. Very few people feel the need to purge. We have a lot to learn from this humble medicine. The pot most of us are familiar with is just not the cannabis we have available now. It’s hard to describe the magical potency and variety of cannabis strains that we now take for granted. This program was developed because we now have access to the cleanest, best cannabis ever grown. Again, we’d love to share it with you.
I don’t like how pot makes me feel, how is this different?
We’d ask more details about how cannabis makes you feel and about the context of your use. Usually people smoke pot recreationally and in group settings, which sometimes elicits social anxiety and other negative side effects. We explore specific concerns but remind potential clients that this is more akin to an intentional psychedelic experience, rather than smoking pot with your friends. It’s important to consider the possibility that the experience will be radically different than previous cannabis experiences.
What is Psychedelic Harm Reduction and Harm Prevention?
As a Psychedelic Harm Reduction & Prevention Program at its foundation, the information, individual services, training programs, and events of Finally Detached are designed to address the full spectrum of complex experiences associated with psychedelic medicine and cannabis use. Some behaviors and decisions are inherently risky, especially skydiving, transformation and awakening. We require that everyone we work with takes full responsibility for all outcomes of their journey as part of their experience with us. It has been our experience that this degree of personal responsibility is a required preliminary mindset for individuals to stay as safe as possible on their journey. That being said, our number one priority is your safety. We are a “Harm Reduction” program, specifically for psychedelic medicine and cannabis users. We believe objective education and nonjudgmental support services are the most effective strategies in working with our communities.
According to the Harm Reduction Coalition:
“Harm reduction is a set of practical strategies and ideas aimed at reducing negative consequences associated with drug use. Harm Reduction is also a movement for social justice built on a belief in, and respect for, the rights of people who use drugs. Harm reduction incorporates a spectrum of strategies from safer use, to managed use, to abstinence to meet drug users “where they’re at,” addressing conditions of use along with the use itself. Because harm reduction demands that interventions and policies designed to serve drug users reflect specific individual and community needs, there is no universal definition of or formula for implementing harm reduction." “Psychedelic Harm Prevention” takes this paradigm a step further. Saying “harm reduction” implies inherent harms, whereas we believe that when used skillfully and intentionally, cannabis and other psychedelics can be used to heal and make our lives better. That being said, the risks are real, so we address them head-on.
What is the legality of the services we provide?
The short answer is that what we do is completely legal. Federal cannabis possession laws only apply to federal lands and military bases and such. In Florida, the consumption of cannabis and its possession is medically legal and well regulated. We just use the medical cannabis laws in a new and unexpected “set and setting.” The use of cannabis is an optional, but integral, component of our Finally Detached Cannabis experiences. Participants are required to bring their own cannabis to these sessions. Less than 1 gram is usually required. Participants must be 21 years old or older to attend these events. A valid ID is required to determine age. These services and events do not include the sale of cannabis or cannabis products. Cannabis is not a business expense and there are no financial transactions related to this medicine in any way. Sessions and events where cannabis is consumed are private, invitation only, and comply with all Florida laws. Participants understand that the Florida Supreme Court ruled that employers have the right to fire employees for cannabis use, even if used responsibly and in off hours, and participants assume all risks associated with this as well.
Is this confidential?
We adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines in our work with our clients, and all information provided to us, written and verbal, as well as your identity, will remain confidential, except when exclusions are required by law, such as if there is intent to hurt oneself or another, or child or elder abuse is occurring. Many of our practitioners are helping professionals and are therefore mandatory reporters under Florida law. While we require that all participants agree to keep confidential the experience and identity of other participants, due to the community nature of some of our events, we cannot make any guarantees of confidentiality. Participants who have strong confidentiality requirements are encouraged to schedule individual sessions or sponsor a group with only trusted friends and allies. Credit card statements will say “Mappa View LLC” or " Finally Detached” on our invoices.
Where are the sessions located?
Our space allows all styles of smoked, vaped, and ingested Psychedelic Cannabis consumption for therapeutic purposes. Our events are located at a private retreat just off of I-95 in Mims Florida. Participants are not allowed to drive after their experience until the following day. A shuttle/taxi service or registered designated driver is required in order for someone to fully participate in these experiences. Personal spaces, homes and rentals must be pre-approved, private (evocative music can be loud at times), clean and comfortable. Fireside sessions must be on private land and comply with all applicable fire regulations.
Additional Legal Information:
We are clearly strong advocates for intentional and safe psychedelic medicine use. That being said, we do not encourage any illegal activities or the abuse of cannabis or any other medicine. We do not believe that cannabis or other medicine exploration, even within the confines of applicable laws, is appropriate or beneficial for everyone. We are conditional advocates for intentional, sacred and non-habitual cannabis use. A substantial amount of skill development, the right mindset, and an intentional setting are required to minimize the risks involved in the exploration of powerful medicines. Our work is, at its foundation, a harm reduction program. Are you a guru or teacher of some sort?
There are no teachers or Gurus. Our practice at Finally Detached is non-denominational. I am just a spirit in a body who has been walking the path for many years, investigating various aspects and practices, and can now humbly offer insights based on studies and hands-on experience. Later in my life, I had a very sincere awakening, which invoked a clear calling to start offering true healing & reprogramming of the mind. When I refused, I suffered. That changed when I finally accepted the knowing that my destiny and purpose in this realm to spread truth and light. The vision was profound and the connection was out of this world. I am no guru, or teacher, at least not in the ordinary meaning of these terms; I am simply a guide, you are the healer! I will not tell you what you can and cannot do. All I can offer is facilitated healing and guidance through Hypnotherapy, Yoga, Sound Healing, Shamanic Ceremonies, and Sacred Journeys. Our goal is to open a channel for you to discover your true self , this way you may experience your own path. No conversion is offered or will be discussed.
I have no experience with spirituality, will this matter?
That does not matter. All that is required, is an open mind and curiosity. We must all start somewhere. Through our therapeutic practices you will begin to grow a level of awareness that will empower you in ways you've never felt before. You will truly understand and begin to apply your mind as a tool to assist you with the ease of creation.

LEGAL DISCLAIMER: Finally Detached fully complies with all local and Florida State cannabis laws, and all federal regulations. We are a harm reduction service, retreat and educational company. We do not promote illegal activities or provide resources for obtaining illegal substances or illegal psychedelic psychotherapy services. As a psychedelic harm reduction program we do not support the misuse or abuse of cannabis, any other drug, or psychedelic medicine. We support the use of psychedelics as a means of opening blocked channels through shamanism & shamanic practices, rather than a dry structured 'clinical approach'. Our truth resonates more with our ancestors and shamanism rather than the constructed idea of healing with these powerful tools that where first for the shamans and medicine men and women. 'Beware of institutions creating the next fad'... We full heartedly believe psychedelics are life changing substances because they increase awareness and brings the individual back to their true selves. At Finally Detached we know that under proper use and guidance, cannabis & psilocybin will help transform the world if framed accordingly.
